BIRTH
ANNOUNCEMENTS
Joe Abbott and Chassie are the proud parents of a new baby
boy, Maddox Michael, December 21, 2011 at North Kansas City
Hospital. He weighed 7 lbs. 2 oz. and 20 ½” long. This is
their
first baby. Joe Abbott is a 4th Year Apprentice.

DEATH BENEFIT NUMBER AT M63
Retired Member, Charles E. Pennington, 80, of Casa Grande,
Arizona passed away December 27, 2011. He was initiated
September 25, 1961, retired May 1, 1993. He’s been a member
for 50 years.
DEATH BENEFIT NUMBER AT M64
Member, Robert W. Reese, Jr., 31, of Kansas City, Missouri
passed away January 3, 2012. He was initiated March 10,
2009.
He was a 4th Year Apprentice. His uncle, George
W. Reese, Jr., cousins, Anthony Reese and Marcus Reese are
all members of Local 533.
DEATH BENEFIT NUMBER AT M65
Retired Member, Edward T. May, 80, of Lansing, Kansas passed
away January 1, 2012. He was initiated May 1, 1963, retired
September 1, 1993. He’s been a member for 48 years. His son,
Edward “Mike” May and grandson, Kevin May are members of
Local 533
-
YEAR END STATEMENTS
The 2011 Year End Membership Statement is information about
2011 dues, work assessments, etc. paid by you to Local 533
for
tax purposes. This is a courtesy provided by your Local
Union and
is NOT A LEGAL DOCUMENT. The Year End Statements will
become available and mailed by mid February 2012. The Year
End Statements cannot be created until we have all of the
December 2011 hours reported by the contractors.

MCA/PFAC
SCHOLARSHIP AWARDS
Letters for scholarship applications were mailed to the
active journeyman pipefitters. For members whose sons and
daughters will be graduating from high school in 2012 and
interested in applying for the MCA/PFAC scholarship, please
call the MCA
office at (913) 948-9200 or to receive an official
application form, please write to the MCA/PFAC, 10955
Lowell, Suite 1050;
Overland Park, KS 66210. We ask that you pick up an
application soon, because other documents are required to
accompany the completed application forms by April 16, 2012.

DIVERSIFIED INVESTMENT
REMINDER
Bob
Burks is at the Union Hall every Tuesday afternoon
from 1:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m., and from 1:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. the
first Tuesday of each month, during regular Membership
Meetings.
He
is available to meet individually with members
who have
questions or who need assistance with their Diversified portfolios. If
you wish to discuss your portfolio, stop by and visit with Bob
or give him a call at 913-451-3545 to schedule an appointment.

RETIREES
The Pipe Fitter Retirees will meet on January 18, 2012 to
celebrate by enjoying outstanding company and great food.
All of Local 533’s retirees, wives and widows are invited to
attend
these meetings/lunches, and may bring a guest if desired.
The
luncheon are held at 12:00 noon. Please bring a meat or
covered dish plus a salad and/or a dessert. Please also
provide your own table service. Doors open at 11:00 A.M.

PIPEFITTERS CONTINUING EDUCATION CLASSES
Journeyman interested in continuing education classes should
contact the Training Center for details. Some classes
include: Backflow Certification, CAD, Carbon Monoxide Safety
&
Awareness, Codes, Green Awareness, Foreman Training, Lead
Awareness, NFPA70E Safety, Refrigerant 410A Safety, Rigging,
Orbital Welding, High Purity Piping Installation & Brazing
and OSHA 10 & 30. Additional classes will be made available
based
on enrollment and schedule.

PIPEFITTERS APPRENTICESHIP
PROGRAM Applications for the Apprenticeship Program are
available on the first Monday of each month, if
that Monday is a holiday, applications will then
be available on the following Monday. An
application can be picked up at the Training
Center from 8:00
A.M. until 4:00 P.M. on the
specified Monday only. An application can be
returned to the Training Center Monday through
Friday from 8:00 A.M. until 4:30 P.M. Anyone
