MEMBERSHIP MEETING
The
SPECIAL ORDER OF BUSINESS MEETING
will be held Tuesday, March 2, 2010, 7:00 P.M., 8600
Hillcrest Rd., Kansas City, MO, Lower Level. The
THIRD AND FINAL READING OF THE BY-LAWS AND WORKING RULES
REVISIONS will be presented and VOTED on at
the March 2nd membership meeting.

BIRTH ANNOUNCEMENTS
On December 22, 2009, Matt and Erin Andell became the proud
parents of a 8 lbs. 2 oz. baby boy, Grady Jackson Andell. He
was
21” long. He joins 6 year old twins, brother Jacob and
sister Avery. Congratulations to the Andell Family.
Travis and Christy Minor are the proud parents of a new son,
Evan James Minor, born January 28, 2010 at St. Lukes East in
Lees Summit. He weighed 6 lbs. 14 oz. and was 18 ½” long. He
will join brother, Aiden, 3 ½. Congratulations to the Minor
Family.

DEATH BENEFIT NUMBER AT M24
Journeyman pipefitter, Marshall D. Hill, 39, of Leavenworth,
Kansas passed away January 22, 2010. He was initiated June
3, 1997 and turned-out June 1, 2001. He’s been a member for
12 years.
DEATH BENEFIT NUMBER AT M25
Retired member, Francis “Paul” Shirley, Jr., 83, of LaCygne,
Kansas passed away January 27, 2010. He was initiated
September 9, 1957 and retired May 1, 1984. He’s been a
member
for 52 years.

“SUPERBOWL” BOWLING TOURNAMENT WINNERS
Congratulations to the Pipefitters for winning the 2010
NAWIC “SuperBowl” Bowling Tournament. The team members were
Bryan Miller, Duane Tindall, Dewayne Tyler, Leroy Auger and

MCA/PFAC SCHOLARSHIP AWARDS
Letters for scholarship applications will be mailed to the
active journeyman pipefitters. For members whose sons and
daughters will be graduating from high school in 2010 and
interested in applying for the MCA/PFAC scholarship, please
call the MCA office at (913) 948-9200 or to receive an
official application form, please write to the MCA/PFAC,
10955 Lowell, Suite 1050; Overland Park, KS 66210. We ask
that you pick up an application soon, because other
documents are required to accompany the completed
application forms by April 18, 2010.

DIVERSIFIED INVESTMENT
REMINDER
Bob
Burks is at the Union Hall every Tuesday afternoon
from
1:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m., and from 1:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. the
first Tuesday of each month, during regular Membership
Meetings. He is available to meet individually with members
who have questions
or who need assistance with their Diversified portfolios. If
you
wish to discuss your portfolio, stop by and visit with Bob,
or give
him a call at 913-451-3545 to schedule an appointment.

- RETIREES
The Pipe Fitter Retirees will celebrate St. Patrick's Day on
Wednesday, March 17, 2010. We'll have our usual potluck
dinner
at Noon. You're asked to bring an Irish dish such as Corned
Beef and Cabbage plus a side dish/salad or dessert for our
usual
potluck at noon. Drinks will be provided, please bring your
own
table service. Doors open at 11:00 A.M. We'll have the usual
business meeting and then polish off the day with several
rounds
of Bingo. Come, and try your "Luck o' the Irish!” Wives,
widows
and friends are always welcome. We hope to see you there!

PIPEFITTERS CONTINUING EDUCATION
Journeyman
interested in continuing education classes
should contact the Training Center for
details. Classes
include:
Backflow Certification, CAD, Carbon Monoxide
Safety and Awareness, Codes, Green
Awareness, Foreman Training, NFPA70E Safety,
Refrigerant 410A Safety, Rigging, Orbital
Welding,
Medical Gas Installation & Brazing,
and OSHA 10 & 30. Additional classes will be
made available base on enrollment and
schedule. Backflow Recertification will
be offered February 24 and April 19.

Customer Skills (12 hours) will
start March 29.

Master Mechanical HVAC Unlimited –
Code Exam Prep will start January 27.

PIPEFITTERS APPRENTICESHIP
PROGRAM
Applications for the Apprenticeship Program are
available on the first Monday of each month, if
that Monday is a holiday, applications will then
be available on the following Monday. An
application can be picked up at the Training
Center from 8:00 A.M. until 4:00 P.M. on the
specified Monday only. An application can be
returned to the Training Center Monday through
Friday from 8:00 A.M. until 4:30 P.M. Anyone
interested in information regarding the Training
Center or the Apprenticeship Program may call
