BIRTH ANNOUNCEMENTS
On January 12, 2010, Jordan and Kayla King became the proud
parents of a 8 lbs. 2 oz. baby boy, Cooper Michael King at
Menorah Medical Center. He was 20” long. This is their first
child. Cooper’s uncle, Joshua King is a 5th Year
Pipefitter Apprentice. Congratulations to the King Family.
Jeff and Tracy Newton are the proud parents of a new son,
Bryce, born January 13, 2010 at 12:00 Noon. He weighed in at
9 lbs. 1 oz. and was 20” long. He will join sister,
Brooklyn, 3 and brother, Bradley, 2. Mother and child are
doing well. Congratulations to
the Newton Family.
Trevor and Kathy Eggers are the proud parents of twin girls,
Anna Lynn and Amelia Dawn born January 18, 2010 at Shawnee
Medical Center. This is their first. Anna weighed 4 lbs. 1
oz., 16” long and Amelia weighed 2 lbs. 11 oz., 15” long.
Both girls are
doing well. They will be in the hospital for
4 to 6 more weeks.

and members of L.U. 533.

DEATH BENEFIT NUMBER AT M22
Life Member, A. “Bud” Hancock, Jr., 85, of Kansas City,
Missouri passed away January 19, 2010. He was initiated
September 8,
1947 and retired July 1, 1984. He’s been a member for 62
years.
DEATH BENEFIT NUMBER AT M23
Life Member, John R. “Jack” O’Connor, 86, of Gardner, Kansas
passed away January 19, 2010. He was initiated February 23,
1948 and retired September 1, 1986. He’s been a member for
61 years.

YEAR END STATEMENTS
The
2009 Year End Membership Statement is information about 2009
dues, work assessments, etc. paid by you to Local 533 for
tax purposes. This is a courtesy provided by your Local
Union and is NOT A LEGAL DOCUMENT. The Year End Statements
will become available and mailed by mid February 2010. The
Year End Statements cannot be created beforehand until we
have all of the December 2009 hours reported by the
contractors.

TOWN HALL MEETING WITH MAYOR MARK FUNKHOUSER
Mayor Mark Funkhouser will be at the Union Hall February 17,
2010 at 6:00 p.m. Members and their spouses are welcome and
encouraged to attend. The Union Hall is on the lower level
at
8600 Hillcrest Rd., Kansas City, Missouri 64138.

MCA/PFAC SCHOLARSHIP AWARDS
Letters for scholarship applications will be mailed to the
active journeyman pipefitters. For members whose sons and
daughters will be graduating from high school in 2010 and
interested in applying for the MCA/PFAC scholarship, please
call the MCA office at (913) 948-9200 or to receive an
official application form, please write to the MCA/PFAC,
10955 Lowell, Suite 1050; Overland Park, KS 66210. We ask
that you pick up an application soon, because other
documents are required to accompany the completed
application forms by April 18, 2010.

DIVERSIFIED INVESTMENT
REMINDER
Bob
Burks is at the Union Hall every Tuesday afternoon
from 1:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m., and from 1:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. the
first Tuesday of each month, during regular Membership
Meetings. He is available to meet individually with members
who have questions or who need assistance with their Diversified portfolios. If
you wish to discuss your portfolio, stop by and visit with Bob,
or give him a call at 913-451-3545 to schedule an appointment.

- RETIREES
The Pipefitter Retirees will meet on Wednesday, February 17,
2010. We will celebrate Valentine’s Day. Doors open at 11:00
A.M. and Potluck dinner at Noon. Please bring a main dish,
salad or dessert. Drinks will be provided. Also, please
bring your own table service. If you forget, no problem. We
will provide them. We will
play Bingo for cash prizes. Come for the fun and fellowship!
February is a great time to get out, visit old friends,
shake the winter doldrums, have a laugh, a song or two and
get ready to
greet the spring. Should we have threatening or bad weather,

PIPEFITTERS CONTINUING EDUCATION
Journeyman
interested in continuing education classes
should contact the Training Center for
details. Classes
include:
Backflow Certification, CAD, Carbon Monoxide
Safety and Awareness, Codes, Green
Awareness, Foreman Training, NFPA70E Safety,
Refrigerant 410A Safety, Rigging, Orbital
Welding,
Medical Gas Installation & Brazing,
and OSHA 10 & 30. Additional classes will be
made available base on enrollment and
schedule. Backflow Recertification will
be offered February 24 and April 19.

Customer Skills (12 hours) will
start March 29.

Master Mechanical HVAC Unlimited –
Code Exam Prep will start January 27.

PIPEFITTERS APPRENTICESHIP
PROGRAM Applications for the Apprenticeship Program are
available on the first Monday of each month, if
that Monday is a holiday, applications will then
be available on the following Monday. An
application can be picked up at the Training
Center from 8:00 A.M. until 4:00 P.M. on the
specified Monday only. An application can be
returned to the Training Center Monday through
Friday from 8:00 A.M. until 4:30 P.M. Anyone
interested in information regarding the Training
Center or the Apprenticeship Program may call
