DEATH BENEFIT NUMBER AT M19
Carrol E. Grantham, 77, of Kansas City, Missouri passed away
December 16, 2009. He was initiated September 9, 1968 and
retired September 1, 1994. He’s been a member for 41 years.
His sons, Robert E. Grantham, David and Tina Grantham
(daughter-in-law) and Mike Grantham are all members of Local
533.

CLOSED FOR THE HOLIDAYS
The
Union Hall at 8600 Hillcrest Rd. will be closed December
25th and January 1st, 2010 in observance of Christmas and
New Years Day.

UNION SOFTBALL LEAGUE
For members interested,
please contact the hall at (816) 523-1533 to sign up. The
games will be played at 140th & Holmes softball/baseball
complex.

YEAR END STATEMENTS
The
2009 Year End Membership Statement is information about 2009
dues, work assessments, etc. paid by you to Local 533 for
tax purposes. This is a courtesy provided by your Local
Union and is NOT A LEGAL DOCUMENT. The Year End Statements
will become available and mailed by mid February 2010. The
Year End Statements cannot be created beforehand until we
have all of the December 2009 hours reported by the
contractors.

DIVERSIFIED INVESTMENT
REMINDER
Bob
Burks is at the Union Hall every Tuesday afternoon
from
1:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m., and from 1:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. the
first Tuesday of each month, during regular Membership
Meetings. He is available to meet individually with members
who have questions
or who need assistance with their Diversified portfolios. If
you
wish to discuss your portfolio, stop by and visit with Bob,
or give
him a call at 913-451-3545 to schedule an appointment.

These updates are critical in case of emergencies. Please

- RETIREES
The Pipe Fitter Retirees meet on January 20, 2010 to
celebrate by enjoying outstanding company and great food.
Let’s start our New Year with a great turn out and the
beginning of a banner year for our retirees, wives, widows
and guests. We will have our potluck dinner at noon sharp.
Please bring a meat or covered dish plus a salad and/or a
dessert. Please also provide your own table service. Doors
open at 11:00 A.M. Should we have threatening or bad

PIPEFITTERS CONTINUING EDUCATION
All Journeymen interested in continuing
education should contact the Training Center for
details. Classes offered: Backflow
Certification, CAD, Carbon Monoxide Safety and
Awareness, Codes, Green Awareness, Foreman
Training, NFPA70E Safety, Refrigerant 410A
Safety, Rigging, Orbital Welding and OSHA 10 and
30. Backflow Recertification class
will be offered this spring. Backflow
Certification class will begin on Wednesday,
January 6th at 6:00 P.M. Master
Codes class will begin in January. Foreman Training class will begin on Monday,
January 4th at 6:00 P.M. Additional
Journeyman classes will be made available based
on enrollment and schedule. Please contact the

PIPEFITTERS APPRENTICESHIP
PROGRAM
Applications for the Apprenticeship Program are
available on the first Monday of each month, if
that Monday is a holiday, applications will then
be available on the following Monday. An
application can be picked up at the Training
Center from 8:00 A.M. until 4:00 P.M. on the
specified Monday only. An application can be
returned to the Training Center Monday through
Friday from 8:00 A.M. until 4:30 P.M. Anyone
interested in information regarding the Training
Center or the Apprenticeship Program may call
for information at (816) 761-8800 or check the
