at the Regular Membership Meeting on Tuesday, May 6, 2008 at
7:00 p.m., 8600 Hillcrest Rd., Kansas City, MO, Lower Level.
The current agreement between
the Mechanical Contractors Association and Local Union 533
expires May 31, 2008. The Negotiating Committee may reach a
tentative agreement that could be presented to the body at
this meeting. If approved, the distribution of money will be
discussed and voted on. If rejected, a strike vote may be in
order.

NOTICE OF
NOMINATIONS
NOMINATIONS will be accepted at the May 6th
membership
meeting for one Trustee each for the Pension, Health &
Welfare and Savings Funds, whose terms expire on July 1,
2008. The term of office for each Trustee position will run
for three years.

NOMINATORS
Only eligible Journeymen Pipefitters in good standing, as
provided in Local Union 533's By-Laws and the
United Association Constitution, who have paid dues through
the month of February 2008, prior to 7:00 P.M. on May 6,
2008, are eligible to nominate candidates for the positions
listed. Any
member who owes or have paid a reinstatement fee (a late
payment penalty) one year prior to the date of the election
will not be eligible to nominate candidates or to vote at
the election.
NOMINEES
Candidates must be in good standing as indicated for
nominators for two years prior to the date of the election
and must accept nominations at the meeting.
ELECTION
DATE
The Election will be held at the membership meeting Tuesday,
June 3, 2008, lower level, 8600 Hillcrest Rd., Kansas City,
Missouri 64138. Only eligible Journeymen members
in good
standing, who have paid dues through the month of March
2008, may vote.

DEATH BENEFIT NUMBER AT L93
Life Member, James “Estill” Jacks, 93, of Ellisville,
Missouri
passed away March 22, 2008. He was initiated
October 16, 1942 and retired July 1, 1978. He’s been a
member for 65-years.

SCHOLARSHIP AWARDS
Letters for scholarship applications have been mailed to the
active journeyman pipefitters. For members=
sons or daughters who will be graduating from high school in 2008 and interested in applying for the MCA/PFAC

64114.We ask that you pick up an application soon, because other
documents are required to accompany the completed application forms by April 18, 2008.
BUILDING TRADES RIGHT TO JOBS RALLY Members not presently working and retired members are
encouraged to sign up for a bus trip to Jefferson City on
Tuesday, April 22, 2008, 7:00 – 4:30. We will travel to the
Capital to have our voices heard on labor related issues & legislation such
as JOBS, the economy, and health care. Let’s show our
support in this worthwhile, fun-filled, rewarding
experience. Bus transportation and lunch will be provided.

DIVERSIFIED INVESTMENT
REMINDER
Bob Burks is at the Union Hall every
Tuesday afternoon from 1:00 P.M. to 4:30 P.M. and later at
Union Meeting held the first Tuesday night of each month.
FIVE YEAR APPRENTICESHIP PROGRAM
The Training Center takes applications for the
Apprenticeship program the first Monday of each month from
8:00 A.M. to 4:00 P.M... If the first Monday is a holiday,
it will be the following Monday. Applications can only be
picked up that Monday, but may be returned any Monday
through Friday between 8:00 A.M. & 4:00 P.M. If you know
anyone interested in applying for the apprenticeship, please
have them call (816) 761-8800 and ask for the information
line where they can get additional information.
VALVE REPAIR JOURNEYMAN CLASS
The
Training Center is looking at running a Valve Repair
Journeyman Class if we have enough participation. For
Journeyman members interested, please call the Training
Center at (816) 761-8800 to sign up. ORBITAL WELDING CLASS
The Training Center is looking at running an Orbital
Welding
Class if we have enough participation. For members
interested, please call the Training Center at (816)

REFRIGERANT 410A SAFETY TRAINING AND CERTIFICATION
PROGRAM
The Training Center is providing Refrigerant 410A
Training and Certification Classes for members of
Pipefitters LU 533. Please contact the Training Center to
enroll in the class.
OSHA 10 CLASS
Will be offered, please contact the
Training Center at (816) 761-8800 to sign up.

RETIREES
The Pipefitter Retirees will
meet the third Wednesday, April 16th at the
union hall, lower level. Doors open at 11:00 a.m. and Lunch
served at Noon. As usual we ask you to bring a covered dish,
salad and/or dessert and your own place settings, drinks
will be provided. Come early and do a lot of visiting. A
special invitation is extended to our disabled members to
attend along with retirees, wives, widows and guests for
great food and company. See you there!
