SPECIAL ORDER OF BUSINESS
at the
REGULAR MEMBERSHIP meeting will be held Tuesday,
May 4, 2010, 7:00 P.M., 8600 Hillcrest Rd., Kansas
City, MO, Lower Level.
The distribution of the $2.00 increase of our current
agreement due June 1, 2010 will be discussed and voted
on.
NOTICE OF NOMINATIONS
NOMINATIONS will be accepted at the May 4th
membership
meeting for one Trustee each for the Pension, Health &
Welfare and Savings Funds, whose terms expire on July 1,
2010. The term of office for each Trustee position will
run for three years.

Pension Fund Trustee – Scott A. Forbes
Savings Fund Trustee – Timothy F. Fox
NOMINATORS
Only eligible Journeymen Pipefitters in good standing,
as provided in Local Union 533's By-Laws and the
United
Association Constitution, who have paid dues through the
month of February 2010, prior to 7:00 P.M. on May 4th,
2010, are eligible to nominate candidates for the
positions listed. Any
member who owes or have paid a
reinstatement fee (a late
payment penalty) one year
prior to the date of the election will
not be eligible
to nominate candidates or to vote at the election.
NOMINEES Candidates must be in good standing as
indicated for nominators for two years prior to the date
of the election and
must accept nominations at the
meeting.
ELECTION DATE
The Election will be held at the membership meeting
Tuesday, June 2, 2010, lower level, 8600 Hillcrest Rd.,
Kansas City, Missouri 64138. Only eligible Journeymen
members
in good standing, who have paid dues
through the month of
March 2010, may vote.

RECENT MEMORIALS

DEATH BENEFIT NUMBER AT M28
Retired member, William E. Copenhaver, 84, of Kansas City,
Kansas passed away March 16, 2010. He was initiated March
22, 1948 and retired February 1, 1989. He’s been a member
for 61 years.
DEATH BENEFIT NUMBER AT M29
Journeyman member, Ronald G. Meyn, 59, of Kansas City,
Kansas passed away March 25, 2010. He was initiated March 2,
1970.He’s been a member for 39 years. His son, Eric Meyn is
a Pipefitter and member of Local 533.
DEATH BENEFIT NUMBER AT M30
Retired member, Charles L. Traner, 63, of Kansas City,
Missouri passed away March 25, 2010. He was initiated March
2, 1971 and retired July 1, 2003. He’s been a member for 38
years.

MCA/PFAC SCHOLARSHIP AWARDS
Letters for scholarship applications will be mailed to the
active journeyman pipefitters. For members whose sons and
daughters will be graduating from high school in 2010 and
interested in applying for the MCA/PFAC scholarship, please
call the MCA office at (913) 948-9200 or to receive an
official application form, please write to the MCA/PFAC,
10955 Lowell, Suite 1050; Overland Park, KS 66210. We ask
that you pick up an application soon, because other
documents are required to accompany the completed
application forms by April 18, 2010.

DIVERSIFIED INVESTMENT
REMINDER
Bob
Burks is at the Union Hall every Tuesday afternoon
from 1:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m., and from 1:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. the
first Tuesday of each month, during regular Membership
Meetings. He is available to meet individually with members
who have questions or who need assistance with their Diversified portfolios. If
you wish to discuss your portfolio, stop by and visit with Bob,
or give him a call at 913-451-3545 to schedule an appointment.

Please notify the business
office for address, telephone number or beneficiary changes
including email addresses, mobile numbers and pager numbers.
These updates are critical in case of emergencies. Please
note that our business office will always
notify members of emergency calls from their families, but
we are also dependant on members to update our office with

- RETIREES
The Pipefitter Retirees will meet the third Wednesday, April
21st
at the union hall, lower level. Doors open at 11:00
a.m. and
Lunch served at Noon. As usual we ask you to bring a covered
dish, salad and/or dessert and your own place settings,
drinks
will be provided. Come early and do a lot of visiting. A
special invitation is extended to our disabled members to
attend along
with retirees, wives, widows and guests for great food and
company. See you there!

PIPEFITTERS CONTINUING EDUCATION
Journeyman
interested in continuing education classes
should contact the Training Center for
details. Classes
include:
Backflow Certification, CAD, Carbon Monoxide
Safety and Awareness, Codes, Green
Awareness, Foreman Training, NFPA70E Safety,
Refrigerant 410A Safety, Rigging, Orbital
Welding,
Medical Gas Installation & Brazing,
and OSHA 10 & 30. Additional classes will be
made available base on enrollment and
schedule. Backflow Recertification will
be offered February 24 and April 19.

Customer Skills (12 hours) will
start March 29.

Master Mechanical HVAC Unlimited –
Code Exam Prep will start January 27.

PIPEFITTERS APPRENTICESHIP
PROGRAM Applications for the Apprenticeship Program are
available on the first Monday of each month, if
that Monday is a holiday, applications will then
be available on the following Monday. An
application can be picked up at the Training
Center from 8:00 A.M. until 4:00 P.M. on the
specified Monday only. An application can be
returned to the Training Center Monday through
Friday from 8:00 A.M. until 4:30 P.M. Anyone
interested in information regarding the Training
Center or the Apprenticeship Program may call
