BIKERS FOR BABIES
Local
533 will be one of the sponsors for the March of Dimes
Kansas City Bikers for Babies Ride, Sunday, September 18th.
For members interested, we will be meeting at Eric Meyn’s

LABOR DAY PARADE AND PICNIC
Local 533 and other unions in the area will be participating
in
this year’s Labor Day Parade Monday, September 5th,
2011. The parade starts at 11:00 a.m. and will begin at the
intersection
North from Liberty Memorial Drive on Main Street and ends at
Liberty Memorial Park. After the parade, the celebration
continues with a family picnic. The Pipefitters will have a
tent
set up and will be offering free grilled meals and beverages
to
Local 533 members and their families. Attractions include
kids’ entertainment featuring clowns, inflatables, mobile
arcade, Motocross stunt riders and live music by local
country and rock bands. Let’s show our support by attending
this day of celebration and we hope you and your family will
join in the fun.

GOLF TOURNAMENT
Larry Mitchell's Memorial Golf Tournament will be held at
the Hillcrest Country Club in Kansas City, Missouri on
Saturday, September 24, 2011, 8:00 A.M. Shot Gun Start.
Members $65.00, Retirees and Apprentices $60.00. No Denim
is allowed and
collared shirts are required. Breakfast at 7:00 A.M. at
the Union Hall and Lunch and Awards afterwards at the Hall,

WEEK FALL SOFTBALL LEAGUE

& Holmes softball
complex one mile south of Martin City on Holmes Road on
Thursday nights.

REMINDER
Bob
Burks is at the Union Hall every Tuesday afternoon
from 1:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m., and from 1:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. the
first Tuesday of each month, during regular Membership
Meetings.

is available to meet individually with members
who have
questions or who need assistance with their Diversified portfolios. If
you wish to discuss your portfolio, stop by and visit with Bob

RETIREES
We hope all enjoyed the ice cream at our August meeting. The
Pipefitter Retirees will meet Wednesday, September 21st
at Noon
at the Union Hall, lower level for their usual potluck and
meeting. For the potluck you are asked to bring an entree
plus a side dish, salad or dessert. We ask that you bring
your own table service. Drinks will be provided. All of
Local 533’s retirees, wives and widows are invited to attend
these meetings/lunches and may bring a guest if desired.

PIPEFITTERS CONTINUING EDUCATION CLASSES
Journeyman interested in continuing education classes should
contact the Training Center for details. Some classes
include: Backflow Certification, CAD, Carbon Monoxide Safety
&
Awareness, Codes, Green Awareness, Foreman Training, Lead
Awareness, NFPA70E Safety, Refrigerant 410A Safety, Rigging,
Orbital Welding, High Purity Piping Installation & Brazing
and OSHA 10 & 30. Additional classes will be made available
based
on enrollment and schedule.

PIPEFITTERS APPRENTICESHIP
PROGRAM Applications for the Apprenticeship Program are
available on the first Monday of each month, if
that Monday is a holiday, applications will then
be available on the following Monday. An
application can be picked up at the Training
Center from 8:00
A.M. until 4:00 P.M. on the
specified Monday only. An application can be
returned to the Training Center Monday through
Friday from 8:00 A.M. until 4:30 P.M. Anyone
